Reading Object Code The object code is the machine readable code that the computer processes so it's not exactly "pretty". But it is often very necessary. Want to guess how the system communicates with you when it runs into an error? Hint...It's not English! When your report runs into trouble it responds using the object code so we teach you how to read and utilize the object code as your initial troubleshooting tool. Debugging We go over how to use the debugger that comes with your system. We also provide tips and techniques that will assist you when a report is not quite working as expected. HL7 Lite (NPR) First let’s explain the use of the word “Lite”. Usually when the HL7 (Health Level 7) acronym is applied to data requests the last thing on anybody’s mind is “Lite”. However, the truth is, not all of the requests need an industrial-strength real-time bi-directional HL7 Interface. Often, a simple batch file using the HL7 file format will work just nicely. We show you how to do exactly that using only the NPR report writer. It may not be common knowledge but the NPR Report Writer is perfectly capable of producing HL7 formatted files. Initializing Reports From Standard Ask anybody, 95% of the reports you create with the Initialize From Standard routine do not work. They will need some adjustment to get them working and that's exactly what we cover. Once you know a few techniques and combine it with what you've already learned these reports won't look near as intimidating. Techniques for Crossing Applicationsp> There are ways to open links to other modules and we cover how to do it safely. Fragments are fine but links are "faster". NPR Report Writing Clinics These have always been a part of our courses and a valuable part of our learning environment we just never gave them a name before. They were the reports participants brought to class for fixing, tweaking etc. Sometimes they did not even exist, they were a set of specifications or a concept someone had. Now we are using a more organized approach and have a separate session dedicated to tackling these real world training examples. How it works: Once registered for any NPR course you send along your report issues (downloads, screen shots, specifications etc) for evaluation. We evaluate them and create a set of slides displaying one or more possible solutions. During the regular course sessions we present the slides and discuss issues and options for working on them. As the course progresses so does the work on the reports. The last session of the course is dedicated to reviewing the reports and presenting the solutions applied, explaining why specific approaches were taken. We also explore alternative solutions because there is never just one way to write a report. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You do not need to be a programmer or IT professional to avail of our training. We have a long history of training front line staff who have an interest in doing "IT" themselves. |
